Ira Morrison

A strong, creative writer and strategist experienced in technology, manufacturing, health care, government, education, and organizational quality, Ira’s background includes marketing, media and public relations, corporate speech writing, internal communication, publications, annual reports, scripting for television and radio, advertising copywriting and special-event coordination. He has produced a large portfolio of marketing/communication and organizational transformation material, working for agencies, Fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations over the past 25 years. 

Ira spent two years as marketing/communication team leader for MidState Medical Center, a full-service acute-care community hospital in central Connecticut. Prior to MidState, he spent five years as communication manager for Health Net, a national managed care organization, where he handled media, speech writing and corporate communication consulting for its Northeast subsidiary. He also was a senior-level communicator for Aetna Health Plans for seven years, and a writer/editor for Otis Elevator Company and United Technologies Corporation. 

Ira has comprehensive branding and marketing experience and a strong PR/media background. He has worked for PR/advertising agencies and a diverse client base spanning many types of industries. In addition to his health care work with managed care companies and several hospitals, he has managed media/PR strategies and written health care brochures, radio, print and outdoor advertisements, annual reports, capabilities pieces and a range of collateral material for many different industries and organizations. 

A graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, Ira holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and attended Fairfield University’s Graduate School of Corporate and Political Communication. He was president of the Connecticut Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators, an adjunct professor at University of Hartford’s School of Communication, and a freelance journalist and communication consultant.
